Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TSPCA) hosted the 2nd Sub-committee meeting of the Certification Project to review the draft animal welfare standard presented by Dr.Patarapol Maneeorn (D.V.M.), one of the key representatives from Thailand’s National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department which supervises private zoo operation in the country. With extensive experience in the practice of local zoos, Dr.Patarapol is assigned by the sub-committee to work on the draft, based practically on SEAZA and the good practice of both local and international private & public zoos. After intensified discussion with some related details to be improved, the draft has finally been concluded and it is agreed that the final version be presented for further consideration at the next meeting of the Steering Committee scheduled for early December 2009.
